I'm popping in to ask an important (well, to me) question.
You know that series I worked on at the beginning of this year? This one!
-Do you believe such a concept would be sell-able online or otherwise? (i.e. think there would be interest?)
-How large would they have to be? (And I know I need to get better-quality scans of them before selling)
-Should I re-do them before selling? Certain ones? Or just wait until I get better artistically? (I don't mind if the answer is "yes!")
-Do any catch your personal interest?
-Should I sell them separately or in a book? Option for both?
-Should I add more to the series (any name suggestions)? The theme IS Death. However, many are also women who have been oppressed or hurt in someway by society or by men.
-Would it be okay if I added their personal stories (on the backs if sold separately or on the facing page in a book)? The "stories" wouldn't be formal. They'd be in my own "sarcastic" style. If you look at Hel's page, you'll see a tentative example.
-Any other comments you want to add?

I think there would definitely be interest in your series but not many sales ;_; Based on what I've seen with artists w/z similar stuff and are not big name popular --this is key, unfortunately--, you might have luck with kids in school or such whose parents can buy them stuff (in this economy, hahahaha well, I've seen those here so whoops) or with people who absolutely love "dark" stuff and cannot bear to live without interpretations of them.
ReplyDeleteI think either 9x12 or 11x17 would be nice, but one also has to consider where people live. Most likely an 8x11 is nice because people can pack it better or something when they move or better position it if their living arrangements are small (eg a dorm or small apartment) but I would aim for 9x12 :)
I'll have to check later which ones could do with a redo but I believe one or two are worth it. The others are fine <3 You can start selling them now because if you wait too much, the opportunity will have passed by :(
You should offer both options, and if most of the stories are female-oriented, then go ahead and do those too. If you want to add more. But I think trying to make it gender equal might be nice in the long run...and possibly less wank from people ;P You could also make up your own goddesses and write their stories *wink wink*
And personal stories added, personally, would be an awful nice bonus <3 Educational yet grimmly entertaining!
