Series WIP 2

So I have the lines finished for the other five pieces. ._.; They're not perfect, but I am pressed for time. Plus, I have other class work to do. Eek! *runs around crazily*
Let's see:
(There are shadows and darkness because I didn't use the flash. All are 18x11 and 1/2)
Cat (guardians of the Underworld and the dead)

Crow(takes souls to the Underworld. There's also a little story about how Crow pecked at its shadow until the shadow devoured it, causing Crow to become Dead Crow and guardian of the supernatural)

Orca/Killer Whale (Associated with the goddess Sedna, who is ruler of the dead)

Snake(represents death and rebirth through the shedding of its skin)

Owl(Death and Wisdom, also considered an ill omen in some cultures)

Backgrounds are still giving me a headache.

And here's something from Wednesday's Figgy Drawing class:

Time for funny (at least to me). These were sent to me a couple of days ago; someone knows me well. :P They're basically several vids of DW characters doing STORIES TIEMZ on a kids show (same show too, I think).  They're cute and, if you take into account the roles the actors have played, amusing.
1. Freema Agyeman - because I think she's adorable.
2. John Barrowman- Well, it's John Barrowman. No need to say why it's cool. :P
3. David Tennant - I thought his holding the penguin plushie was adorable. And it's cuter because it reminded me of when Derrot and I had the idea of recreating scenes with plushies (shut up and don't judge, hardy har har), and I chose the Emporer Penguin to be the Master. *snerk* We just need a cockatoo to be the Doc and we're all set.
4. John Simm - Since Mister Master tends to use innuendo and fetish fuel, hearing this dude say, "Can you see my cat?" made me lose it. Mainly because he's sitting a little "too relaxed." Man, cross your legs! XD Your cat's trying to get out.
5. Christopher Eccleston- He tells a story about monkeys. Just look at him and see why this fits so well.
6. Philip Glenister- Okay, he's not from DW, but if you have seen the series "Life on Mars," you'll get why this is hilarious. I kept waiting to hear him scream, "TYLA!" or "This is a story about a boy named Tyler. Tyler was a major pain in my arse."

More DW stuff (since I'm not sick of it yet)-
Nash- He reviews Classic Who, and they're pretty entertaining. :3

Derrot, if you link to that crack vid here, I won't mind. *curious* :3

I'm hoping to get through my messages at the end of this week, since I believe I'll have a tiny breathing period. Lots of things are due this week! D: And I need to figure out what to do for the next series. AGH! I wanted to show the page sketches I did of the DW/PMMM comic, but I'm probably gonna trash them. 8D

  1. Tat's a pretty awesome drawing series. :o

  2. OMG. XD That series...just watching them doing the character voices. I might pee myself. >.<

  3. Ooh, these drawings are so playful, with the animals confronting their "death" forms. I originally thought of the horse as scared, but if I saw it together with the rest of the drawings, the context would change completely~ *pets fluffy owl* I still say keep the backgrounds simple. ^^

You're improving a lot in that Figure Drawing class! Make sure you work on your hands, though. You go into detail on the face, but don't be afraid to work on the hands more to get better. ^^

Haha, those bedtime stories were great (though my dad went past me and I think he saw me watching them, so I wonder what he thought about me watching bedtime stories... in the afternoon! It was the Tennant one, so with the penguins, it probably didn't seem that strange to him after all. XD)

    My thoughts:
    Freema: I agree, she's adorable~ <3 >_< She has a good narrating voice. ^^
Barrowman: He sounded like he was having fun. XDD And he says night-night instead of bedtime, just like my family does. <33
Tennant: He talks to plush birds. THIS MAN CAN DO NO WRONG. 8D
Eccleston: So he carries a banana in his butt wherever he goes? >.>
Simms: Gosh he's cute, but your comment about his kitty ruined the "aww" moment. XD
    Other Dude: I haven't watched Life on Mars, but I was sad the clip ended in the middle. ;_;

I watched Nash's review of "Love and Monsters" and had laughs at the Fat Bastard references ("Git in mah bellah!") so I'm going to watch some of the Classic Who reviews later. XDDDD

    Crack Video! 8D
Morning Musume's Kono Chikyuu/Kare to Double-A Side MV:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLGVkcoWe2g

(This video is so hilarious and messed up that it is now their most watched video on their channel. I'm so proud of them and I hope when the single goes on sale next week it does well on the charts, as a 25th birthday present to Aichan. She's the blonde-ish girl with the short hair.)

Basically the first half of the video is cheesy funky disco. The dance is just... wow... is that some Saturday Night Fever I see there? And then it descends into pure crack when we enter the (wo)man-child and group lolicon Sayu's mind. I kept watching that half over and over and over and over again just to catch all the little crazy bits and also because it's a good song. (Maybe a little too happy for you? But not as annoying as S/mileage's piggy video. XD) It is now my FAVORITE Morning Musume music video EVER. o___o

For your next series, you can do a follow-up to your current series. Think of a way that you can continue the theme of death with the same animals or a new set of animals. Perhaps the animals could watch over other symbols or locations of death (gives you a little room to go political if you wanted.) Or they could be partners with the Reaper.

Don't just trash your work, you could still make a scan dump before starting over. If you think you have to start over, that is. >_>

  4. Luna: Thank you, m' lady! :3

Aya: I think I did pee myself, so don't feel ashamed if you do. >.> TMI? I shouldn't have had a big coke before watching them.

  5. Derrot: Day-um. Always long comments with you! 8D Well, here it goes:

I guess they could be confronting their death forms; I thought of them as being mirrors of each other anyway. :) I should have talked about the horse before and explain that it's not really scared. I wanted it to be intense since I took inspiration from the horses of the Apocalypse and the steeds of the Valkyries (since warriors in Norse myth would see them right before they died).
Oh, and I trashed the cat and didn't do any backgrounds, except adding a pomegranate in the snake one.
I guess I did okay on them; Prof. Brown was of course brutally honest, but she did seem happy that I put thought into their background stories. She said they may have looked better on another kind of paper, and I agree. >.> I SO chose the wrong paper for this. But she said it was good for a first series and that I should continue in a similar vein. (I want to do a happier series of my dogs in colored pencil, exaggerated in different ways, but she wants me to stick with the regular pencils for the second set)

I hardly ever get to the hands. XD I'm usually worried about proportions, so the feet and hands get neglected. But Prof. Shieldhouse says that we'll start doing specific body parts next week, so expect some hands. :P

Your dad probably wondered: "If she wants someone to tell her bedtime stories, she could've just asked ME." But I'm sure he's seen you watch stranger things. I'll try to put up warnings for more adult stuff so that he won't accidentally walk in on you and think you're watching porn. 8D

*has a small crush on Freema* >.> <.< Her voice makes me giggle.

I kind of piddled myself listening to Barrowman because of the voices he made for the monsters. So cute!

Maybe you and Tennant can get together and have tea parties with plushies. >.> (If you ever do, send pics!) Oh, have you seen the complete eps of his appearances on that Friday show? (The one where that Who Porn clip comes from) He's wonderful with comedy. You should see the part with the hidden camera and he acts like he's been kidnapped and tied to a bed. XD (The David shrine is awesome too) If you can't find it, I can give you the links.

Eccleston: What do you mean by "banana in his butt?" *snerk* I just meant that with his ears sticking out, he looks like a monkey himself, so his story choice was funny. XD

Simm: I'm so sorry I ruined it for you. But it was just too obvious to me (since I'm a perv, I guess). It was asked so playfully, so I thought: "Oh yeah, I can see it alright. ._." Eh, but he's adorkable. I have a crush on his nose; I'm having fun drawing it. I kind of want to grab it and go "honk honk" but I may get charged for assault.
    TBC...

  7. "Other Dude": You should give Life on Mars a try. It can be a bit slow and sometimes it's hard to understand the characters' speech (not only are they British, but they're also cops and you know how slangy and weird cops can be). It's hilarious and really good.
The guy in the clip (Glenister) is always screaming "TYLER!" in the show, and his accent makes it sound like "Tyla." Sam Tyler is his partner (and he's played by Simm; the two actors are in a LOT of stuff together). They're always butting heads and I kept thinking "Oh, just get married already!" Glenister (Gene) is a hard ass, but he really does steal the show.
Fans tend to jokingly link LoM with DW, so if you ever see someone joke about Mister Master going to 1973, they're referring to LoM since it's about time travel. (kind of) Comic Who even did a bit for it: http://comic-who.blogspot.com/2011/08/gene-hunt.html
Here are some clips from the show:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5LsCC1zNLY&feature=related (first ep; towards beginning)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-a9LD1GFVw

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtvnN6l8K1A&feature=related
My favorite scene is one I couldn't find. ):

If you do decide to watch it, please don't watch too many clips beforehand or read about it online, or it'll spoil the story for you (like I did since I'm an idiot).
Oh, and I think you'll like the soundtrack. ~_^

One thing you'll notice is how much Simm cries in the show, and with good reason honestly. But it's hilarious once you realize that he pretty much cries in everything he does (what I've seen thus far), including DW when he returns in The End of Time. People have made drinking games out of it, and have become piss ass drunk. XD Just some funny trivia. I always wait for his crying scene when I see him in something.

    Anywaaaaaaaaaaay. That got long, sorry.

Watch Nash's review of the 8th Doc movie (the sweet Doc like Tennant, yet not like Tennant 8D). The music he plays when Eric Roberts (as the Master) appears in Time Lord garb is awesome.

    ...
What. The. Fu-? Just WHAT?! I'm gonna watch that again. >.> I bet c-c-c-c-c-cocaine mixed with viewing this would give someone an aneurysm. Pretty effects and costumes though.

You must have been reading my mind since I was thinking about animals at locations of death. Like they could be gazing at a certain spot (field, bed, etc.) and remembering a mate or friend who passed away (represented by a ghostly skeleton in that spot). My first thought was of a horse standing under a tree looking at a hollow in the tree and "seeing" its mate's spirit. It's sad, but eh.
OR I could do a series with people who are holding their deceased pets (represented again by the ghostly skeletons), but I think that's a little too macabre.^^; But it would be an easier transfer from that to my happy pups series. (since they both deal with pets, I guess)
    I dunno. >.>

But I hate the pages. XD They deserve to go into the trash.

Whew! That should keep you occupied for awhile. :P Let's see if I can keep this up for your other comments here and dA this weekend. 8D

    P.S. Gimme more Hellhoney!
Whenever I see that name, I think of this: http://thecinemasnob.com/2011/05/16/dvd-r-hell-heil-honey-im-home.aspx

  8. There's nothing wrong with long comments... 8D

Oh no, you trashed the cat? So you only turned in five? (C'mon it couldn't have been that beyond saving...?) And yeah, she's picky about paper and she didn't like the idea of me going into color at first either. That does relieve a bit of the work load, though, and lets you focus more on the drawing and value, yeah? ^^ Have you decided whether you're just going to do greyscales of your dogs or are you going to change it since you probably won't do color?

Yay, hands! I kinda hated just doing hands and feet myself, but it really does help you out when you add your developed skills to the overall picture.

Well, I hope you won't send me porn. XD As long as it's not porn, I don't think my parents will mind what I'm watching (unless I'm watching stuff all day.) They'll just tease me about what I watch. Like I was watching Nash's review of the Doctor Who TV Movie like you suggested, and my mom walked in on the part where the Doctor's eyes are held open and the Master was gooey-ly kissing the chick, and my mom walked past and said I looked like I was going to throw up. XD (It was the eyes that really bothered me, uggh.)

I've only seen the YouTube clips of Tennant on the comedy show. O: (But I don't want to download anything or watch on Megavideo, so if the links don't involve those two things, then you can send away! 8D) (And I'll be sure to send you pics if Tennant ever has a penguin party with me. Maybe saying that will jinx things and it will actually happen? O: )

I meant that it looked like Eccleston grabbed a banana out of his butt. XD And it's okay about Simm, I don't mind the pervy joke, but it clashed with his boyish cuteness. XDD

I think I may check out Life on Mars someday (are there DVDs released in the USA?) but I have so much to catch up on already! XD Star Wars the Clone Wars and My Little Pony are getting new seasons soon, and I'm currently watching (or trying to watch/catching up on) The Idolm@ster, Hello!Pro Time, Pokemon, Toriko, Gintama, Doctor Who, Beelzebub, and Gosick. And then there's Sherlock and Big Bang Theory to check out. Plus all the drawings and comics I'm working on. *faints*

But I agree, what you showed me looked good, I really do like the 70's music. <3 And Gene eating the ice cream and being mean in front of the little kids was pretty hilarious. XDDD Well, Simm does look like an overgrown schoolboy, so the crying fits him that way, too, not just in character. It's kinda cute. XD

Aside from having to hold myself and look away at the "eye-opening" scenes, that review of the TV Movie kinda makes me NOT want to watch the actual movie. No way can it match Nash's Lucky Charms voiceover or the Master's Gay Bar Clubhouse Mix. XDDDDD

Did any of the idols in that video stand out? 8D I hope they have more videos like that in the future. >_<

Bah, that's not too macabre. It doesn't sound gory, and it might be touching to some viewers. ^^ I think both ideas could work well for your new series... do some thumbnail sketches and see which one you'd have more fun doing. (And I didn't read your mind, I just jumped to the next logical conclusion... which means *gasp* you think logically! XD)

Noooooo! Well, fine... but come up with something else fun for us to look at! XD

I'm going to actually start working on penciling and inking pages this coming week! And I'll have another summary for you to read soon.

And wow, that sitcom... wow. I wonder what kinds of letters the producers received? I mean, I agree with Cinema Snob, if they were going to make fun of Hitler, they could have made it less boring and actually funny. >_>
