My Little Qilin

MLQ NOT my idea. ._.;

It looks like a lion/goat, but I was rushing. >.> I think I got the point across. Love the wood though. :3 And the leaves.

First pic is closest to how it is in reality, color-wise. The second is just a closer view(with no flash).

Time to cut those borders!

Soundtrack:
Imogen Heap-Getting Scared

Angry Angel

Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds
The "acting" is quite narmy in places, but the music is killer. I've been listening to this for years (since I was just a wee one). It's creepy too with the descriptions about how the aliens kill people.
First song-Eve of the War (Very beautiful. And rockin')

Maybe I'll compile the whole opera in another post. (Need to find all the songs on Youtube and put them in order)

The funny:

I'm not really a Sherlock/Watson fan when it comes to the new show. If anything, they'd have a "romantic friendship," kind of like Frodo and Sam from Lord of the Rings.
...
Waaaaaaaaaait, maybe not. Those two were preeeeeeetty gay. XD
I hope this new Sherlock stays asexual, despite what Moffat has said. We need more characters who are ace. Sherlock may be an ass (and fictional), but he's OURS, dammit! We wanna keep him. Well, some of us anyway. And the homoeroticsm is fooling no one, guys. Can't say there's nothing going on when certain things happen. -_-;

Anyway, nighty night. After tomorrow, I can relax a bit and go through blogs and dA comments. Finally.

  1. I really love the colours. I wouldn't have thought to use brighter accents like that considering the wood theme, but it really livens up the whole thing.

  2. Imogen Heap <3 And MLQ *snickers* 8D It looks fantastic!

Sometimes I'm glad my mom --the big all-around Sherlock fan in our house (except the Downey version; I just like the BBC one and Basil Rathbone version)-- doesn't venture much into the dark corners of Internet fandom. Otherwise, she'd be like one of those rabid fangirls who blogs against the Sherlock/Watson pairing XD She's always insisted as long as I can remember, that Sherlock is basically an asexual aromantic person. (Though she never uses those words. I think she forgets the existence of the word 'asexuality' XD) She did mention once that in the books he might have had feelings for a woman but apparently it was like a one time thing? He's basically not interested in anybody, sexually or romantically. She's more of a purist than I am when it comes to her favorite series, so she hates it when romance/sex is forced upon characters who've never expressed need for it or where the original source had none of it and they got along just fine without it. I think the idea of Sherlock being asexual is fantastic, if only because I'm getting really tired of the sex scenes and "omg sex is totally necessary otherwise blarrrrrghhh" in mainstream shows. Or maybe it's my demisexual side showing, haha. (There are only one or two shows nowadays where if the implied canon couple gets to have sex, I would melt with happy gooeyness -- because the relationship has developed properly...really rare nowadays)

Maybe Moffat just said it because the BBC doesn't like controversial things :P

  3. At first I read the nose as a mouth, so Qilin really did look like the side view of a My Little Pony! XD Still, wonderful wood texture, and with all the colorful blossoms, it kind of draws attention away from Qilin. I have to force myself to look at him instead of following his tendrils into the wood and flowers.

That first Imogen Heap song was sooo 90's. XDD But I like how the vocals don't overpower her songs, allowing me to lose myself in the melodies and non-singing vocals.

Eve of War was also a blast from the past! So Disco-y~

That Sherlock clip scared me for a moment. I thought they were replacing the cast. But once the snogging began, it was all 'ahahahahahahaha' from there. XD I hope the current Sherlock stays asexual as well. Not every "adult" show needs a romance. Maybe that's what turns me off from most live-action shows and why I mostly watch cartoons. I can't relate to real romance. XD

  4. Luna: Bright colors own my soul. >.> <3

Jadine: I just discovered Imogen, since someone said she was similar to Florence + the Machine. (But I sure don't hear it-those liars!)

Y'all don't like the Downey movies? XD I think they're amusing enough as popcorn flicks, and I like the bitchy arguments between the two mains. >.> But I don't watch them again after the first time. They're too...something. <.<
D'aaaaw. *hugs your mom* It's nice to see that canon supports the whole ace thing. It makes me happy (in my pants, hardy har har). The pairing is kind of cute and amusing (until sex enters it), but still, it's more of a romantic friendship. The BBC mains obviously care about each other deeply and it shows without the two actors eye-fucking each other. XD They do seem to "check each other out," but that's it. (I need to find that gif pair; it was lulzy.)
Was your mom referring to Irene Adler as the love interest? I don't think she appears again, so yeah, it's a one time thing (and sex wasn't involved anyway).
As for Moffat, I just meant that he seems to view Sherlock as more of an abstinent person rather than ace, which are very different things. Oh, and it seems that the whole gay/couple aspect of the show is played for laughs ("Oh you're NOT a couple? Suuuuuuuure."), which I feel cheapens things.

If he ends up boinking someone in the BBC series, I might explode (in a bad way).

Did you see Series 2? <3 If so, I need a hug. D:

Which two series are you referring to? *nosy*

And you're demisexual? I didn't know that. And I actually know what that means, for once. XD

On a random note, I want to see Sherlock and Sheldon from Big Bang Theory meet. Their egos will cause an earthquake. (And Sheldon's another jerky ace, dang. We're nice people, really. XD)

Derrot: The creatures are meant to blend in with the element/formed from the element rather than be the main focus. Does it still not work with this one? D:

I'm still exploring Imogen. I've acquired lots of new things, so expect more off-the-wall stuff later. 8D

I think War of the Worlds was released in the 70s. *looks* 1978! So your comparison to disco is apt, I think. :3 Listen to it all sometime. You may not like the story parts but the music is definitely nostalgic.

Queen Victoria does not approve of that snogging in front of her. :P
*crosses fingers* He better stay ace, but what can I do? I can't control it. D: Cumberbatch said he played the character like that on purpose, but I don't think he can have much say in the writing either. Hopefully, Ga(y)tiss keeps Moffat from doing something awful.
But sex sells. We aren't the target demographic. ): Forever aloooooone. (And I don't think fangirls were the target either. I wonder if Moffat knew that some people would look at the show and go "PORN!")

    1. If that was what you were going for, then it does work! It just might take a moment for a viewer to know what's hiding in the wood, that's all. ^^

I have The War of the Worlds book, and I like it, but you're right, I like the music far more in the opera. XD The words distract. If I want them, I'll read the book again.

But see, that's what the fandom is for. Some people might look at the show as sexual, and then they'll make clip mash-ups, macros, art, and fiction to have fun with their OTPs. You don't have to insert sex to sell a show. The fandom will do it for you, and you can leave your original artistic vision intact with less pandering. :\

    2. It might be her newer stuff. O: I discovered about her through the first Narnia soundtrack.

I shall hug my mama for ye :D No, we've never seen them and we're not really planning to XD;; Too many liberties taken XD (For one thing, when Sherlock dresses in drag, he actually looks like a woman -- not a man in drag 8D). In my case, it's more because Guy Ritchie's the director and for some reason I have an averse dislike for his directorial efforts t_t

Yes, that's what I love about the BBC one <33 The possibility that yes, it's possible for men to care about each other very much and where they're not necessarily gay. Respect, admiration and mutual love.

I...don't know. I can ask her though. She never really remembers most of the side characters' names XD;; But if BBC!Sherlock had a one time thing with her, it's probably the same woman. And an abstinent Sherlock...hmm, I guess it could work. Maybe in his younger days?...Yet somehow I can't really see him being abstinent XD (unless somebody changed the definition of that word!) Myeh. I'd believe Mycroft being abstinent more than Sherlock. (If I remember correctly, canonically Mycroft is not married/in a relationship?) I actually liked the gay/couple aspect played in the first episode, if only because of Sherlock's lines and faces to John. Do you remember them? :D

Noooo, not yet. I dun have le BBC America, so I'm waiting for the March/April (?) showing on PBS. My mother and I have saved the date 8DDDDD The two series I refer to are Haven and...I forgot which was the other series D:

Yes~ I found out about that orientation earlier last year and a lightbulb went in my head. It described who I was perfectly after all these years. I just didn't make a big announcement about it because well, I kinda feel embarrassed about it :P And also because I don't feel like it's THAT big of a public deal for anyone to know XD OMG CROSSOVER~ Sheldon is the only reason why I watch that show. 8D

    3. Derrot: Ah good. Maybe it'll be abstract enough for her liking. XD I need to go through your gallery again and poke at your series. Just to see what you produced at the time (and cry because you can do so much more than me under pressure :P).

I'll post the whole opera next time. There's no music-only version though, sorry. But it does get lulzy in parts, so that might be amusing enough for you during parts between music.
(Random note: I got two books today on the WotW phenomenon and the descriptions of the hysterical actions during Welles's broadcast are quite hilarious. I shouldn't laugh, but dear lord.)

I love mash-ups and macros! :D /random But you're right. Fans have to amuse themselves with SOMETHING between series. (I seriously want more, but since both actors are working The Hobbit, we won't get any until 2013. *baaws* I do have to say that Freeman does look adorbs as Bilbo.)

"Sex" might be the "artistic vision" in the first place, however. Boo.

    4. Jadine: *writes down Narnia soundtrack* I'm a completist, dangit!

Damn Americans, always taking liberties with sophisticated things. Oh wait. Ritchie's English, right? Someone smack him! He should know better! (Man, I wonder if they'll touch upon the drag in the BBC version. How they'd pull off making Cumberbatch "womanish" would be a thing to see. Doesn't Holmes force Watson to kiss him to keep up the facade in the original story? Or was that just fanfiction? Dear lord.)

Their relationship is adorbs, and I hope it stays platonic. But if it does cross the threshold, for whatever reason, I won't barf (unless it's redunkulous). We know they stay together for a lifetime, so soulmates don't need to boink. They just need to give each other foot rubs. 8D
(Random note: And I think the reason I got into Doctor/Master was not just for lulz, but because they.Kept.Eye-fucking. See, I have a reason! Not a good one, but it's there? *hides in shame* I'm not a slash-happy shipper, like some peeps out there)

The relationship between BBC!Sherlock and Irene was left ambiguous, but I won't say anything else. (In a River voice: Spoileeeeers.) Wait, do you mean you can't see him being abstinent because to be so would mean one must first be interested in sex or you can't see him being abstinent because he could be a closet horn dog? >.> I must have these things spelled out for me, because I'm a dumb ass.)
I don't know about canon/original!Mycroft, but BBC! Mycroft...I still dunno. He's played by Ga(y)tiss, so maybe they'll play with that aspect of his character at some point. 8D
And of course I remember those lines! Kind of. >.> I know Sherlock was "flattered" by John's interest, but he's married to his work. John was of course mortified being mistaken as "interested." But you have to wonder that if a smart guy like Sherlock thinks someone is interested in him, after all of his "deductions," what does that say about John? Wouldn't Sherlock immediately figure out that John doesn't pursue other dudes? He seemed a bit disbelieving when John denied it. Hmmmmmmmm.
      ...
Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. It was just an amusing scene. "It's fine. It's all fine."

I didn't watch them on BBCAmerica, but from torrents. BBCAmerica really doesn't have much honestly; I wouldn't recommend ordering it. If there's some way to get the original BBC out of the UK, then go for that if you want. BBCAmerica has a shop with loads of shows to buy, but we don't see those shows on the actual channel, except for DW.
Just some words of caution. 8D

And I think the PBS showing of series 2 is in May. Here ya go: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/sherlock/

      I haven't seen Haven yet, but it is on my list. Isn't it based on Stephen King? I'm not too keen on him, so I kind of let Haven be pushed back. ^^;

Bah, no need for a big announcement, unless someone bothers you about it. (I had to do it once when someone kept making comments about my bizarreness for not having interest in boinking. *such a mature word! But I love it*)

I think Sheldon IS the show. >.> Crossover should happen, but it'll never happen except in fandom. *le sigh*

    5. I admit, I am a pressure worker. That could be my problem right now. XD

That sounds like it will be fun to listen to while coloring stuff. ^^ And as for the hysteria, well, we may have more skeptical people nowadays because we've been desensitized by realistic special effects and hoaxes and such (could be dangerous for our society in the case of a real alien attack), but I'm sure there are still plenty of people that would go completely apeshit. XD

But doesn't the first part of The Hobbit come out this Christmas? And then Part Two at Christmas 2013? :O

Uggh, modern retelling of the books, eh? Because the human species has sex more than it did a century and a half ago? 8D (In which case, a Stone Age retelling of Sherlock would logically be mostly them grunting doggie style in between them trying to solve the mystery of the missing mammoth or something. >_> )

    6. (I don't remember that part! It might be fanfiction; I doubt Conan Doyle would have been that bold in his time to write such a scene 8D)

I can't see him abstinent because it would mean he would be interested in sex either all of the time or sometimes. The 'sometimes' part might make sense...might. :P (It's ok; I need to have certain things spelled out for me too >_>)

Haha 8D It's not like I was going to be able to (the company that rents out the apartment complex where I am at doesn't allow us to add channels...I think). But good to know!

Yes, Haven is based on one of Stephen King's novels. I'm not really interested in his stuff either, but I might eventually read the original novel one day because I really really love Haven. 60% of it is so cracky. You can watch clips and episodes here: http://www.syfy.com/videos#/Haven/ And the season 1 DVD is out too :3 I know how you feel about letting things be pushed back, haha. I was interested in Supernatural when it was first premiering wayyyy back and thanks to its fandom, my interest severely waned. However now that my mother insists on watching it, I will now have the chance to XD (I haven't told her why the fandom ruined it for me *brr*)
