Dusty around here...

I never intended to come back here. But I just want to get this out of my system and since I think anyone following this thing has moved on long ago, I'll probably just be shouting into the void. Good. I haven't seriously drawn in years and I don't really plan to in the future. My desire kind of took a hit due to dA dramu years ago (and it's so high school, ugh. Embarrassing). But it's mostly just me and my feeling of eh. Apathy. Can't bring myself to care. Anyway. Something has come up, health-wise, and barring any tests, I have a feeling that I know what it is. And it might be more than one thing at this point. And honestly...I'm ok with it. If it's "that," I plan on letting nature take its course. I don't want to be a burden on family or insurance-payers. Everyone I know has their own thing going on so I'm not going to bother them. Not like I'm close with anyone anymore. I haven't made anything of myself and I don't care to. Not going to do any big plans and just wait it out. Some will be happy to see me go. That's fine. They'll join me someday anyway. Hell, this might be nothing and I'll just coast along for another 40 years before turning to dust. Same outcome. *waves*

11/25/14

Yeah, this place is pretty much dead. 8D

Most of the stuff I do gets sent to buddies via email/text/dA note. Not much sense posting it here too. (Unless anyone out there wants me to put up everything I've done since the last entry.)

I guess that "eh" feeling I've had for awhile is permanent.

For now, I'll keep the blog up but may delete it in the future.

Happy trails, all!

Sketchies 5/1/14

It's springtime, which is supposedly a time of new beginnings. Maybe I can complete something this year?

Here's some stuff I've done lately. Yup yup.

I've begun my senshi ref sheets, after how many years? 8D Here's an attempt at Archy:

Scrapped it!

Another attempt:

Scrapped it!

Yet another attempt:

WILL scrap it. 8D Not having good luck here with Archy, am I?

Some details for Archy. Still need to work on faces in profile, hmmmm.

Here's Dunamis' base body. I want to keep it but will have to draw the rest of her legs and feet, and outfit details, on the back of the Bristol to save sheets. Stuff's expensive!

Sailor Asclepius is next. Same situation as Dunamis: need to complete the feet and outfit details on the back!

Sailor Seraphim has quite a lot of details on her sketch. Looking at it now though, it bugs me. So it may be scrapped. D:

Sailor Garuda! Her right (our left) arm and hand seem massive. Or is it just me?

Restarting my clothing meme for City Guardian Senshi. (Cloe/Marginis, shown below and Nehanda/Honoris)

A couple of sketches for the FaLLEN art contest! The first is meant to be an indeterminate-gendered Arma, whose features are leaf-like, since the story uses symbolism of fall/autumn, leaves, and maybe redemption from a "fallen" state?

This one may be a bit spoilery for those who haven't been through Ogawa Burukku's dA gallery. I modeled "Munchkin" off calm and sacred images of the Virgin Mary, but her curly hair has Arma within its grasp. I just think her plans/interest for Arma are a bit malicious. But I'm not sure! 8D

2/18/14-Senshi Time Once Again

Last time, I said I'd post some sketches. Those actually made it to my Deviantart account instead.

But I have a couple today! <3

First up is a WIP for Dezi. It will feature her Sailor Nisaba saving my Sailor Borges from the Librarian. It does make sense if you know the whole story, but only Dezi and I know the details. 8D
I'll be adding the Librarian herself and the details on the book and characters when I can!

Next up is a WIP for Gabi's shipping contest. I chose my Garuda and her Bismuth Macaw because they're both based on birds and I had a cute idea of songbirds being all lovey-dovey/flirty in a cage. >.> It's probably not what Gabi wants since I don't think these two have a "spark" portrayed here. I just hope I finish it in time since it's gonna be a doozy and very detailed with all of the those lotus petals and Bismuth crystal.

Letting Go...

Wow. I really didn't post anything in 2013. I wasn't completely idle, so this kind of surprises me.

This past year, I let go of some people, offline. I've realized it's time to move on and just focus on my own goals and let those others live, and not hang onto them.(Some have already let go of me.) That can be poisonous for all involved. I've erased lots of contacts in my phone, e-mail, and blogs, except for a select few who I have gabbed with recently. (This includes you, Derrot! Don't worry. I'll keep bugging you because why not? :P) I bid everyone else farewell and prosperous lives. <3

I can feel the Reaper getting closer these cold nights. I can only imagine that Foxy will be visiting his twilit island within a year or two. Or it could be something unexpected. I'll just have to bear it. ;_;

I'm currently working on several things at once:

-Secret for Aya (this thing will NOT let me go. XD)

-A character application (Sailor Marginis) Done with profile; working on refs

-A character profile and image for a competition (Sailor Borges)- Profile stuff ready to type and organize; beginning image

-Preliminary sketches for three other characters for Angel Senshi group (no connection to my Angelic senshi that already exist)

-A written piece for my Grim series

-Picking up a short/mini comic collab again with Jadine

-Images(official), and four designs, for the Angelic Senshi, but these are way down the list for now.

I may take photos of some WIPs and post them tomorrow to add some new and much-needed  graphics to this blog. For those who are still interested in this thing, thank you for sticking with me. I hope you like what's coming.   :)

(Also: I'm still jobless, but will be volunteering at my local zoo . It's their 100th anniversary this year, so I may be there a lot. Hopefully, this will open doors for me in animal/humane/veterinary assistant paths. We shall see!)

Archy! 10/21/13

Continuing sketches for my Senshi Series, starting with the Angelics (and finishing/re-designing the remaining four: Hasmallim, Malakim, Cheribum, Ophanim)!

I liked this a lot yesterday when I sketched it. Looking at it now with fresh eyes, eh, not so much. Do the proportions look completely out of whack to anyone else? I need to change the perspective of the right arm to make it look like it's coming towards the viewer, and fix the left arm. I know that. But what about the rest? Start over?

Pose referenced from the Senshistock To Go book. (AGH! I want those packs, but don't have the money! *collapses*)

Feather Brains, Trashy Bloggers and Evil Puppies

Ever since being terminated from my job, I've been a bit down. However, I'm slowly getting back into the groove of being (somewhat) productive.

I'm currently thumbnailing (is that even a word?) images of my senshi. I'm also getting the rest of my senshi designs completed so that people can finally see the whole team, if they're even interested. 8D

I started putting Sailor Garuda on Bristol, but I don't know if I like it. I kind of wanted to redo my first image of her, but not have it be the same. (WOW, that thing is OLD!) Since I originally imagined Garuda as being something of a messenger in that picture, I wanted to keep the "herald" movement. Does that make sense? >.> Like she's saying, "Hark!"("Hark" can also be used as a sound effect when someone is coughing up phlegm. *HarkharkHARKHACK*)
I took inspiration from the Archangel Gabriel in Annunciation paintings, but I don't think this pose has the punch I want. I wanted movement and maybe flying/flowing. But if I did that, she would go past the Bristol's borders and I don't want to draw her smaller since I want to color these and be able to get into the tiny details of the senshi outfits. D:
Do-over maybe? I shall see. But I want to get Archy, Seraphim, Dunamis, Heaven, Fenrir, Ascelpius, Principatus, Borges and others sketched in their own images soon.

Next up is my WIP of Lara Jean Chorostecki as Freddie Lounds. I thought about doing this in colored pencils, but figured that I need to get used to "regular" portraits before doing something so ambitious. I still want to use colored pencils for Freddie, because of those delicious red ringlets. So, next time!

Haven't done much on her yet, but I'm determined to get her skin done soon so that I can continue that hair! *drool*

And here's a picture of Foxy with her new big bone. With me bugging her. She's not happy about the latter. She's a grumpy old fart. :P

DAT FACE!

Started/attempted portraiture again.

First is the lovely Mads Mikkelsen as the good Dr. Lecter, done with Faber-Castell graphite on 11x14in. Bristol. (No flash. I kept getting a big glare when I had it on)

Thank you to Derrot for encouraging me to not give up. <3 I may fiddle with this some more before putting it on dA. I could shade the thing completely, but I don't want to to risk screwing it up, especially since it's my first decent "portrait" in awhile. Just kept it simple (with mistakes, but hey. It's okay!). I'll probably do a lot more shading on the next drawing of him. :3

Currently blocking in another pic of him. Same actor, different, um, character? Eh, it's from some sort of photoshoot. I just really like his look and the crown he wears in the photo. (It'll make sense later.) Very Game of Thrones.
I already see mistakes, but I'll fix them. I'm still measuring the facial features. This is gonna be a real difficult one, but you'll keep my spirits up, right, Der/peeps? 8D

I'll probably end up drawing more of him because I adore his bone structure. >.>

Blocking-in of Lara Jean Chorostecki as Freddie Lounds (done very lightly). Haven't decided if this will be another regular graphite portrait or if I'll attempt colored pencil. She has some delicious red curls and I just want to capture them. YUM!
More sharp cheekbones to play with! YAY!

And another WIP of Roz.

Close-up of face

Close-up of hand and pomegranate

Yay? 8D

Also, before I forget: here's that Geico owl commercial, Der!

Wings 'n Things!

Remember those sketches I did for peeps at the end of last year, but never completed? Yeah, sorry. ._.; I haven't done much "arting" this year, due to my "episode" earlier this year, and work. But I think I'm getting better. Maybe. I look at those sketches now and go "ew." 8D

Refresh your memory? (Link to previous post)

Here are some more from that time period, and some from this year's beginning (but the "best" piece is the last one)
I'm using lots of quotation marks. I should stop doing that. >.>

I'll try to go in the order of when these were scribbled down.  I may revisit, or completely redo, these. But I don't like them so much now. >.>

First up, Maya from Brooke's FaLLEN! For some reason, the camera didn't want to focus on this one. o.O

This was another pose/composition idea for Maya:

Wild's Sailor Astraea

 Derrot's Nicolina (and owl)- AAAAAH! So awkward. ._.;

Ayashi's Ezrae (get this novel edited! I want it! :D)

Bekuki's Lillian Armstrong (Why this file is called "hannah" I don't know. The hell?)

Another for Bekuki. This was meant to be a senshi.

Remember Ereshikigal? I still want to redo that picture, with a more dynamic composition. (Can you tell what is going on? No? Sorry. XD)

An OC for Derrot's and my DW comic. Can you guess who it is, Der? Think LONG hair. We've discussed her! (Don't say the name. Spoilers, y'know?)

An idea for Rosalind:

Quickie of Bettie Page. Couldn't quite get the hang of her face. 8D Maybe because it's too small an area to work in? Ah well, I hope to get better at portraits since I'm sketching out actor faces now- Tennant, Matt Smith, Mads Mikkelsen, Lara Jean Chorostecki, Cumberbatch, etc. Fun fun!

Misc ideas for bigger pictures: Cherry on a fence, Derrot's Gera and Pan falling from the sky (I want to do a companion piece with Benny and Jade), Neco from FaLLEN, and Sailor Garuda. All of these will hopefully be on large Bristol board.

Jadine's Muslim angel/Malakh. I really want to revisit this one and make it a proper picture- inked, shaded, everything.

Aaaaand, another WIP of my main Rosalind pic.
Y'know, I can't believe I didn't include a pomegranate! That's her main thing! (Or one of them.) Craparoonydoony.

It's okay. I'm a bit disappointed with how it's turning out though. Not the way I wanted it to look. Ah well.

Materials used
Background tentacle angel- Micron pen
Wings (on humanoid angel), clothes- Faber-Castell brush pens
Skin, hair- Faber-Castell graphite

WITH FLASH

NO FLASH

Till next time!

7/29/13

Stuff's coming. Nothing too exciting, but it's coming. Oh, goody goody.

Eh...4/27/13

So, I haven't updated this thing since January. (No one's noticed, I'm sure. 8D)

I seem to have lost/misplaced my main sketchbook, which has comic notes and "important" sketches for comics, and gift sketches. ._.; And it must speak volumes about my mental state when I say: I almost don't care it's gone. That may change later, but right now...I just give up.

I kind of fail as an artist anyway. >.> Or being active in any anything really.

Commishes WIP

Instrumental Angel for Bekuki
Hair EVERYWHERE. D: It's unrealistic, but I blame anime physics. 8D (I really just got carried away)

Pose from SenshiStock.

+~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+

Secret for Ayashi

The camera washed out the skin. I'm still working on it because she looks like a pink shrimp in reality. ._.; I haven't colored in so long, and I'm experimenting with colors. I don't want my people to look like plastic Barbie dolls as they have in the past.

Oopsies 1/25/13

I forgot to post for three weeks! 8D Or: I don't really have anything I want to show.

Later tonight, I may put up my two WIP commissions and one sketch. But that's it. Thrilling, huh?

Also, for DW fans: the show comes back March 30. Just putting that out there.

So... 12/31/12

This year was a flop. Other than my goddess series at the beginning, I didn't get anything done. Sure, I started. But nothing is finished. Kind of sad. Maybe I need to find a different path in life, because this art thing is a bit of a failure. >.> Bored with my complaining yet? I am. (I need a cheerleader or something).

-I've seen a progress meme going around dA and am a bit sad that I really can't participate. I don't have anything good enough or thrilling to put on it. Hmmm.

But I may get something done this year, since I'm doing two collabs with wonderful peeps who can stay on my ass. Those are:

-The  DW comic/story/THING I'm working on with Derrot. We have the very first part slated to begin in January. We still have the timeline to work out and ideas to organize, but I'm sure we can do it! We'll have to make a list of the work to do and then split it up. (I'm doing that "new" character sketch tonight, Der!) Can't wait!

-A short comic with Jadine. We did not get accepted into The Sleep of Reason, but we're still going forward with the idea we planned. We pretty much have it all outlined, but may embellish things since we no longer have a 20-page limit. I'm really excited! Let's make it freakin' awesome and make people jealous! XD

-I have an interview on Wednesday. Wish me luck? I really want to commish more peeps cuz I love y'all. ;_; Sure, there's stuff I want so I need MONEYZ (and benefits), but I mainly want to give to charities, schools, and commish/buy stuff for buddies.

-I have sketches. (Always sketches; nothing substantial! BAAAW) I would call them Xmas gifts, but since that's gone... 8D I'll just call them sketches. If you don't get one, don't be offended. You may be getting something soon. I just need to get into the swing of things.

-I want to work more on Roadside Whispers and maybe more on my SPN idea, even if it's just scenes for the fic(written and drawn). I've grown quite fond of Rosalind and don't want Cherry to just languish under a pile.

Do you have resolutions? :3

A Small Memorial

I like looking up my favorite former professors to see how they're doing. I probably should make contact, but eh, I'm still a shy person, even having known them in the flesh. (Maybe soon?)

I have only visited one professor several times since leaving FSCJ in 2008, because he allowed former students to sit in his lectures.

Richard Turk was my professor for Intro to Religion and World Religions in 2006 and 2007. He was a pastor for many years before teaching courses and he still ministered to ex-prisoners so that they could function within society again. He told us about helping underprivileged adults and children, along with his wife (who would sometimes come to class herself and talk to the students). Mr. Turk was a devout Christian, but was one of the most open-minded people I have ever met. (He claimed to play "Buddhist golf," which was pretty funny) He loved listening to us and debating, and would challenge those who were a little too stuck in their worldview. He wouldn't just "grade" our papers and work, but would write many notes on them and this would prompt further discussion. He liked watching us grow and observing our thought processes - a true teacher.

He advocated acceptance of all belief systems, despite his not subscribing to all of them. (He would often end a discussion with, "Isn't that somethin'?" with a big grin on his face. He thought spirituality was amazing in all forms) Even though I thought I knew a lot about religion before coming into the classes, I learned so much from him because he knew about the history and contexts from which the religions grew.

Today, I thought about visiting him again soon. When I looked him up, I was saddened to learn that he had passed away on December 25, 2011. Apparently, he taught right up to his death; he loved it so much. It's fitting that he went "home" on his savior's birthday. He practiced Christianity as it should be. I really hope he's happy.
It's weird knowing he will no longer be on campus again. ):

Benny!

Slightly better version of Benedict Cumberbatch than the little one posted before. It's far from perfect, but I want to do it again on real art paper and "real" drawing pencils. It'll be easier to blend the shades.

Benny, your face is so frustrating!

Likenesses... *snerk*

Did some stuff today. Well, technically yesterday, but whatever. I'm sleepy. 8D These are all from a roadtrip, on a bus. (This is kinda relevant)

For an upcoming comic collab with Derrot, I've been trying to draw actor likenesses in order to get practice before the official story begins. (And it's good to practice faces anyway)

So, I'm keeping this short:

First up, it's not a likeness, but rather another WIP of Derrot's Gera and Pan.

It turns out that I need to "plumpen" Gera (left).

Cameo WIP (The Doctor, Jade, and Benny are coming)

An attempt at Benny C. Yeah, I'm re-doing this. 8D He's so fat and non-Benny-ish. I blew up his face to get a better look at his facial structure, so hopefully that'll help. (And when I say "blew up," I mean that I made the printer give me a bigger picture of him. I didn't throw dynamite at his actual face. Doing such a thing is illegal, I believe.)

An attempt at Matt Smith:

Another:

And another: I blame the bus for bumping too much. 8D It's terrifying.

And I almost have him now:

I did individual features rather than the whole face in one go. It helped. (Chin's still weird)

Lastly, Jade's facial structure (or some facial features; haven't done a full face). The top left is the first attempt. The bottom mouth and eye came after. I think they're not so bad. Still need to work on the nose.
